Empty Boots

Empty boots in the desert sand,
Remnants of a brave young man...

Two flags waving in the breeze,
Marine weeping falls to one knee...

Not old enough to buy alcohol,
Yet legal to die when duty calls...

The enemy's war has no rules,
Can't engage the cowardly fools...

Fight for strangers far away,
Leading their lives in a selfish daze...

Silver spoons and talking heads
Utter commands with no regrets...

Not for politics, elephants or mules,
Just proud to defend red white and blue...

Fight for God, right and family,
Costly blood shed against tyranny...

A widow cries in a darkened room,
Her heart breaks with aching gloom...

Left alone to teach their young son of his heroic roots,
He grows up to fill his father's empty boots.

Gears

Talking heads in the house on the hill,
Send young men across the big pond to kill...

Don’t ask, don’t feel, and we’ll tell you what to think...
Just take another numbing pill, have another drink!

We’ll take good care of you in our master plan,
Devour your souls; leave you a shell of a man...

You’re a vital link in the gears of the killing machine,
Ignore the sounds, the smells, and the chilling screams!

The body carpets that you walk through,
Merely casualties of greed, whom we never knew...

Sorry if you lose your friend whom you call brother,
We’ll replace him for you with many others...

Don’t double-cross us or make us look bad,
We’ll deny that we know you and claim you’ve gone mad!

No glory, no thanks, no help, no compassion...
No use to us any longer, end of transaction.
