Cries my soul!
Merciless priests,
Jealousy flows
Through steely veins…
Wicked tongues betray
Son of Man.
Disciples scatter…
Shameful cowards!
Rooster crows thrice,
As He predicted…
Messiah is denied.
“Are you King of kings?”
The Roman inquires…
“I am as you say!”
Righteous lips proclaim!
“Crucify him, crucify him!”
Shout the instigators…
“Blasphemy he speaks,
He must die!”
Shards of torture
Bound with leather…
Ripping flesh,
Burning bleeding…
39 lashes,
As was Jewish law.
Scorned and mocked,
Beaten and spattered…
Crown of thorns
Imbedded with spite.
Simon of Cyrene
Carried His cross,
Begrudgingly
To Golgotha,
Place of skulls.
Cruelly nailed,
Wrists and ankles…
6 hours slowly He suffers,
With shallow breath
He spoke,
“It is finished”
