Insignificant

Disappointment I hide
Behind a brave smile
I understand
I say
As I feel my heart cry
Layers of patches
Over gaping wounds
Almost healed
As a fresh one blooms
Concealed in a box
I put on a shelf
Decades of pain
I’ve been dealt
The box is full
Ready to burst
Emotions overflow
But what is
Worse
Is dreaming that
To you
I’m someone
Very important
When
In reality
I’m just
Above
Insignificant

  1. You are so much more to family and friends Brenda. We all love you very much. Great poetry by the way. Be blessed and be well, sister.

    1. Lana, I can't imagine why they would be that way toward you!
Seems like all of us can relate to the emotions I try to convey!
I hope one day you in-laws will open their hearts and invite you in!
Thank you for reading my work! :)

  2. Brenda, your words above are so true. They especially ring true to me in regards to my in-laws, all of them! We have virtually no contact with them and despite my efforts over the years to "repair" what ever is wrong, nothing has worked. Yes, we are insignificant to them. Their loss...
