A Hero's Grave

V1:
He went off to war in a foreign land
Fighting for the rights of his fellow man
He was young and strong
He was bold and brave
Risked his own life
For the ones he saved

V2 & Chorus
Faded yellow ribbons wrapped
Around the trees
Broken welcome home sign
Blowing in the breeze
He won’t be coming home
To a joyful parade
They’re laying him to rest
In a Hero's grave

V3:
Family left behind with their
Shattered lives
To pick up the pieces
And move on in time
World keeps on turning
Like nothing has changed
He's just a casualty of war
In the power game

Chorus:
Faded yellow ribbons wrapped
Around the trees
Broken welcome home sign
Blowing in the breeze
He won’t be coming home
To a joyful parade
They’re laying him to rest
In a Hero's grave

  1. "A casualty of war in the power game," so sad, but very true. Our men and women are all hero's.....Thank You for remembering these brave souls with an unconditional love, courage, and bravery as all who have surrendered over to the strength of a nation who loves them all. My prayers are for peace.
