Dear Mama

My heart has a void
Only you can fill…
The world kept turning
The day you departed,
My world stood still…

I think of you and laugh,
I think of you and cry…
I'll never stop missing you
Dear Mama
Until the day I die…

When that day arrives
Only God knows the time,
You'll greet me with
A great big hug and
Your beautiful loving smile!

For now I'll carry on
My day to day routines…
Always remember
I love you Mama
And I'll see you
In my dreams!

The Kill

His friendly smile hides
Evil intentions
Searching the streets for his
Next unsuspecting victim
Wicked mind lusts with
Premeditation
The thrill of power and
The Kill
Calming his
Ultimate fascination
His heart races
With anticipation
As he views his
Unaware delicate prey
Innocent girl doesn’t know
This is her last day
He invites her into the
Warmth of his shelter
Her instinct says no
But she’s tired of being
Hungry damp and cold
He takes her to a
Secluded place
He relishes the terror on
Her youthful face
She tries to fight
But to no avail
He has the strength of a
Demon
From the depths of
Hell
She succumbs and
Takes her final breath
He shudders with excitement
At the sight her death
Blood thirst quenched
For a short while
Calming the monster
Behind soft blue eyes
He returns to his dull
Everyday life
Goes home to his children and
His wife
She asks him how his day has
Been
He answers
"Nothing special"
With a malevolent grin

The Sun Came Up Again Today

The sun came up again today
It doesn’t know
You’ve gone away
I hear people laugh
And children play
Same routines
Different day

Life for me
Is standing still
Since I recieved news
That you were killed
In a barbaric land
So far away
Where no one even
Knew your name

You fought for them
While they curse the
American way
Back home people
Watch the nightly news
Unaffected strangers
Seem sadly aloof

How sad they think
For a second or three
When they see
Your name flash
Across the screen

Along with other
Brave Airmen
Seamen
Soldiers and
Marines
Who lost their share
Of the American dream

I’ll never be the same
Person I was before
I lost my heart
In tyranny's endless war
The sun came up again
Today

A Child's Shoes

Into this world
A child is born
To live with
Velvet love
Or thorns of
Hurtful scorn
Delicate psyche
Like petals of a
Rain kissed rose
Uncertain destiny
Life unfolds
Longing for acceptance
Smiles and affection
Instead
Receiving bitter frowns
Laced with splinters of
Dejection
Wading through
Rivers of ridicule
Struggling to survive
Why did they want
A child in their lives
No broken bones or
Abrasions
No visible bruise
Scared and all alone
No one sees silent
Mental wounds
Dark family secrets
Better not tell
Child suffers a
Nightmare of a
Conscious living Hell
One day to be grown
With children of
Their own
They must shatter
The cycle of abuse and
Remember painful days
Of innocent youth
When they wore
A child’s shoes

Beautiful Eyes

On a dark stormy night in a bar
A handsome young man
Watched me from afar
I was out that evening
With friends from work
Nothing unusual up to that point
Had occurred
My friends left early
I decided to sta
The handsome young man
Started walking my way
He introduced himself to me
As Joe
I shook his hand
And said hello
My name is Dahlia
He looked into my eyes and said
I know
I thought it odd
But I just let it go
He flashed a sly grin
And gave me a wink
He waved to the bartender
To bring us a drink
We sat and chatted for hours
It seemed
I started feeling strange
As if I were in a dream
He said I had beautiful eyes
And smiled
The last thing I remember was
The long cab ride
And the stabbing pain when I died
Joe admired my eyes so much that
Fateful night in the bar
Now he keeps them on a shelf
In a jar

Legally Raped

As madness grows
In middle eastern
Nations of hate
I pray for the women
And their dreaded fate
Treated as possessions
Without a voice
Silenced in darkness
She has no choice
Woe to be born a woman
In their man ruled world
Routine self-righteous slaughter
To disobedient unyielding
Wives nieces sisters
And daughters
Unloved beautiful creatures
Used as a man’s personal
Slave
Demeaned beaten and
Legally raped
Falsely accused
Of fictitious crimes
If she dares step out of
Line
Sentenced to a punishment
Of barbaric stones
Until her soft flesh
Is ripped
From her body
Baring blood and bones
The world is aware
Of our sisters plight
I pray for her strength
And her will to fight
We must band together
Scream out for justice
Political intervention
Help give our sisters
Equality
Speak out against
Gender discrimination and
Senseless Brutalization

I Cry

I cry for you
In my sleep
I see your face
In my dreams
I miss you
More and more
Each day
Words can’t
Express my
Heartbreak
My pain
I shed silent tears
All alone in the dark
Of night
My sorrow
Grows
But they say
In time
Old wounds will
Heal
That somehow
Seconds, minutes, hours
Days, months, years
I won’t feel
The loss of you
My beautiful
Dear
Mother
I’m not the same
Lighthearted girl
That you once knew
A saddened soul
Now dwells
Where joy once
Bloomed
I long for the day
When we meet again
Until that day
To my
Chagrin
I must continue
To breathe
