The Glass

“The glass is half empty.” said the old grimacing man.
The child looked at the crystal pink glass and chirped,
“No sir, the glass is half full!” smiling contently.
The man huffed, jerked his head to the left,
Lowering his chin and staring intently, first at the glass,
Then at the child, he said in a firm voice,
“What do kids know anyway? The glass is half empty!
The child answered, “Well sir, I know that when I put the
Glass on the table, it was empty; and then I filled it
Half way with water, so it’s half full!”
Looking baffled, the man pondered for a moment;
A smile slowly broke the concrete like
Grimace on his face, his eyes sparkled in awe of the child;
He patted the child gently on the top of his head,
And said, “The glass is half full!”
